Our Mission
The mission of Performance Edge, Inc. is to provide superior performance arts training and opportunities that will attract a diverse group of young people. Through intensive individual and group training and performance, Performance Edge strives to enhance the cultural life of the entire community.
Our Participants and Programs
Performance Edge offers a variety of programs and workshops designed for specific age ranges of students, grades five through college. Participation is open to any musically talented student in the region. We have a balanced blend of male and female participants and performers and a limited number of need based scholarships are available. Several programs and workshops require auditions and others are open. We provide students opportunities to participate in a variety of performance experiences through our shows and workshops.
These include:
Summer Showcase – rising 9th grade through college
Total Performer Workshop – 9th grade through college
NC Honors Chorus Workshop – 9th through 12th grades
Middle School Workshops – 5th through 8th grades
Capital Ambassadors – 10th grade through college
High School and College Open House Programs – 9th grade through college
Our History and Vision
Core programming began with specialized workshops and an intensive summer music camp. From 1998-2002, what has become core programming was developed under the auspices and support of Arts Together in Raleigh. Increasing demand from the community for training opportunities created the need for the program to grow in size and broaden in scope. With this growth and development, the program began to move outside the balance and mission of Arts Together’s progam offerings. In 2002, Performance Edge was established as a nonprofit organization that continued performance training and developed a reputation as a program designed to enhance the educational surroundings of musically talented youth in the Triangle area.
Our vision began as a contribution that a performance training program could make in the Triangle community. This vision took root and today continues to grow with participants, performances and workshops. Each of these enhances personal development and the vibrant performing arts community in our region. Our goal is to contribute to the quality of musical performance in community, school and church programs.
Over 200 young people from more than 50 different schools benefit from our programs and events each year. Many of our students continue to stay involved as they grow older by assisting with various aspects of our programs and “giving back” to our organization.
